Fulbright Foreign Student Program in USA

The Fulbright Foreign Student Program enables graduate students, young professionals and artists from abroad to study and conduct research in the United States. The program operates in more than 160 countries worldwide. Approximately 4,000 foreign students receive Fulbright scholarships annually.

Target group

Scholars from about 155 countries of the world are eligible to apply for the Fulbright Foreign Student Program.

Eligibility criteria

The Fulbright Foreign Student Program is administered by binational Fulbright Commissions/Foundations or U.S. Embassies. All Foreign Student Program applications are processed by these offices. Eligibility and selection procedures vary widely by country.

Generally, applicant must:

Reside in the country of nomination at the time of application.
At the time of program start date, possess the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree with a good academic record.
Be fluent in English, as demonstrated by a recommended recent score of no less than 550 (Paper Based TOEFL), 79-80 (Internet Based TOEFL – IBT), or 6.5(Overall Score International English Language Testing System – IELTS); test scores can be submitted to IIE by indicating the institutional code 2326 on the day of the test .
Not hold U.S. citizenship; dual citizens are not eligible for the program participation.
